Inspired by the late King Bhumibol, he was the ninth monarch of Thailand from the Chakri dynasty, titled Rama IX.  This beloved monarch was highly revered by the people of Thailand.  He often appeared in public wearing pink which has been associated with the King for many years after royal astrologers suggested he wear the colour to stimulate good health. He was succeeded by his son, Maha Vajiralongkorn, as king.
